"Generally speaking, men are influenced by books [and presumably articles, quotes, etc.] which clarify their own thought, which express their own notions well, or which suggest to them ideas which their minds are already predisposed to accept."

Carl Lotus Becker (1873-1945), American historian

Random Quote from my Favorites Database:

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in, forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day, you shall begin it well and serenely..." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

TheFreeNetworkProject.mht - Interesting Idea, Basically complete and unrestricted free speech. Really too bad it is being taken over by 'inappropriate' content.

Author Brin argues for openness.mht - Mar_ 10, 2000.mht - Interesting article concerning privacy on the net.

Lying with Pixels.mht - An article about the emerging technology that could even be used to alter LIVE broadcasts so people are duped into thinking they are looking at a parking lot down the street from their house that's filled with enemy tanks!

Why is Microsoft Attacking the GPL?.html - This is a pretty good article with historical analysis of why the author thinks MS is spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) about the underpinnings of its biggest competitor, presently and in the future, and historical precedence to support his argument. GPL or General Public License is the software license that Linux, and about ninty percent of it's software is written under. It basically says that you can edit a program code as long as you provide access to the code of your resulting program to anyone that uses the program. For more information on the GPL check out the GNU website. Please be weary of this and consider the implications of no competition for Microsoft (there hasn't been enough for a while but imagine none!).

The Six-Lesson Schoolteacher Essay that displays the problem that our school system is today.

Melancholy Elephants Entertaining short SciFi story that won a hugo award many years ago. Deals with intellectual property and the dillema of creating completely original work in an everlasting, digital world.

Spectrum Allocation is Unconstitutional (maybe) with the advent of Ultrawideband radio (aka spread spectrum) Basically (As I see it) you use a chip and an algorithm to determine what frequencythe two communicating systems listen on rather than set blocks and use weak pulses across the spectrum to communicate so if you (your chip) knows where to look for a signalyou can hear it.
